Children's Organizations

Local nonprofits that serve underprivileged children bring their kids to the Burrage Mansion for a variety of activities: playdays, awards ceremonies, Scout jubilees, sports practices, sleepovers, enrichment workshops, and special events. Having children learning, laughing, and playing here in this “safe haven of happiness” is the most important part of fulfilling the Rochford Foundation mission—that’s what it’s all about.

The Foundation also provides philanthropic support to a variety of children’s charities. Along with the A. K. Smiley Public Library and The Redlands Daily Facts, the foundation co-sponsors the Redlands Kids’ Riddle Contest throughout the summer. Each month a lucky Redlands kid wins the grand prize: six VIP tickets to an L.A. Angels baseball game!

Community Partners
Many service clubs, charity organizations and local business join with the Rochford Foundation to help realize our shared mission of serving children, especially children in need.

Several community groups make use of the beautiful mansion and grounds – free of charge – to hold gala fundraisers that help them continue their own work. The Foundation’s donation of the Burrage Mansion not only provides a beautiful venue for their events, but invariably increases their fundraiser’s bottom line—meaning that more funds are being raised to help children.

The entire, ever-increasing harvest from our orange groves gets donated to local children and needy families. We couldn’t manage this without the help of volunteers from partner organizations who help pick, wash and distribute the crop. Volunteers help out at the Burrage Mansion in a variety of ways.

Other groups & businesses have made donations for the kids: bicycles from the Redlands Police Department, bike helmets from Loma Linda Children’s Hospital, laptop computers from Esri, golf clubs from Redlands Community Golf Club, award pins and plaques from Gallagher’s Engraving and more.

We are deeply grateful for the synergy of working together with our neighbors and friends for the common good of improving the lives of children.

Rochford Scholars

The Rochford College Access Program was funded by Tim & Carol Rochford with a $1.3 million kick-off grant with the purpose of increasing student participation and success in academic preparation courses for low-income, traditionally underrepresented students.

The program offers academic support and mentoring designed to build college-going skills, increase high school completion and prepare students to succeed in their college and career aspirations. RCAP requires the engagement of parents and families in creating a supportive college-going culture that supports students’ educational pursuits. The program begins with a cohort of sixth-grade students and continues through high school graduation, with ongoing financial support through their first college degree. “Saturday Academies” for students and parents, various family activities, and awards ceremonies are held at the Burrage Mansion.

Sponsorships

The Rochford Foundation partners with other local, child-serving nonprofits not only by offering use of the Burrage Mansion but through sponsorship support for their offsite activities as well.

These sponsorships include Rotary Touch-a-Truck, Stater Bros. Charity Believe Walk, Kiwanis Redlands Christmas Parade, the Redlands Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Dog Jog, Redlands Visitor Center, Redlands Conservancy- Assistencia / Dia de los Muertos, Boys & Girls Club Chocolate Fantasy, Redlands Bicycle Classic, Run Through Redlands, and Redlands Bowl Arts Impact program.
