Rochford Foundation

The Rochford Foundation is a private nonprofit founded by Tim Rochford in 2008. Its primary focus is the Burrage Mansion— restoring and maintaining the mansion and grounds and offering this beautiful setting to other local nonprofits that serve children.

Mission Statement

The Rochford Foundation’s mission is two-fold: restoration and preservation of a Redlands architectural jewel and historic treasure, the Burrage Mansion, and stewardship of the Burrage Mansion as a sanctuary dedicated to the well-being and happiness of children in need.
Our work is grounded in principles of respect, compassion, and responsibility. Drawing upon the mansion’s beauty and spiritual serenity, we work to create a place of safety and loving kindness, where less-fortunate children have a chance to play and dream
The Rochford Foundation joins a Redlands tradition of civic generosity. The foundation’s Burrage Mansion offering is intended to inspire and facilitate other nonprofits and individuals in their service to disadvantaged children in our community.

Tim & Carol Rochford

Both Tim and Carol Rochford have a hometown love and loyalty to Redlands and to the youth of our city. They both went through the local school system and graduated from Redlands High School in 1965. Tim joined the Navy and married his former high school classmate and girlfriend, Carol Drewitz. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple has a son and daughter, two granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren.

A born entrepreneur, Rochford became active in the oil and gas industry in the Midwestern United States in the early 1970s. He developed multiple natural resources companies, notably Arena Resources in 2000 and RING Energy, Inc. in 2012, both listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Rochford’s have purchased and restored many historic buildings in downtown Redlands, underwritten city beautification projects, and made significant contribution to the Redlands Historical Museum, helping support and sustain the community he loves so much.  While hugely successful as a businessman, Tim is also highly regarded as a philanthropist, particularly toward the youth of our city.
Tim’s most significant contribution to youth began in 2008, when he and Carol fulfilled a longtime dream and established the Rochford Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to serving disadvantaged local children. He and Carol purchased and renovated the Burrage Mansion, a historical Redlands treasure built in 1901 by industrialist Albert Burrage, which is now used for the sole purpose of carrying out the foundation’s mission of service to children. The 18 -acre estate has been transformed into a haven for multiple organizations that serve and support our children—including the Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, Mansion Memories, Micah House, RUSD after-school programs and many others— to host a variety of activities and events that enrich the lives of each of the tens of thousands of children who have come through the Burrage Mansion doors during the last decade.
